Try this site

here you can get quotes from different companies so you can compare them.

You should call around and compare because prices will vary depending on your neighborhood, the home, the distance to a fire hydrant or fire station, if you’re in a hazardous area, if you have an alarm system, etc. I called 9 different places before deciding on one and then I ended up switching my car insurance to this company as well for a great discount (because my car insurance was cheaper through them as well). Good luck! I use American Family Insurance.

It all depends on several factors. Where the home is, type of build, you credit and other things.

One company that has good rates in one area can have really bad rates in another. Best thing to do is just call and ask for quotes for several company’s and pick the one that works best for you

Never, ever shop for insurance based on price. What you want is coverage. Get informed, do your research and sit down with a licensed agent. Ask them to explain what happens when there’s a claim. That’s what you’re buying insurance for.

Price can be worked out. There are payment plans and low down payment options. It’s not about what you’re paying….it’s about what you’re paying FOR.

Call State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Nationwide and Farmers. With them you get an agent and a company who can back their claims.

I would say find an independent agent in your area and they’ll do all the comparing for you since they represent multiple companies and can get different quotes from different companies to find the best price. Otherwise you going out and getting individual quotes from companies like AllState, State Farm, etc. will be a lot of work and time. I have mine through Brown & Brown who are located all around the country. Take a look at their locations page and see if there’s an office near you, otherwise I just do everything over the phone and email which works out fine. Good luck and congrats on buying a house!

Cheapest for me, or for you? for a new house, or an old house? For a big house, or a little house?

There’s no "one size fits all" cheapest insurance company. There’s no shortcut. To find out who’s cheapest for YOU, you have to shop around.

I recently purchases a house and did some extensive research on homeowners insurance. I found that American Family has the cheapest home owners insurance.

You can easily check your quotes in internet, for example here – homeinsurance.awardspace.us

I HAVE HAD AMERICAN FAMILY FOR 15 YEARS. This year they informed me my rates were going up from $1000 to $1700 per year. only 1 claim in 15 years! When questioned about it they said it is because my credit rating has dropped.
I have never missed a single payment with American Family. I am definately looking elsewhere. So far Progressive, Hartford, statefarm and few smaller names are considerable cheaper than what I was paying. I have given American Family 1 week to look into this or I am switching.
Ask friends, family and co-workers what their suggestions are
