Is normal that insurance company inspect the house after given the policy?

by San Francisco Home Insurance on December 20, 2011

Today, a guy called me that he was asked by the Insurance company that already given policy us and we already paid for it. He said the insurance company asked him to inspect our house. Is this normal? Anybody has this thing going?

generally the exterior only – unless you signed up for some special interior inspection. ask your agent. you should get to know your agent personally, anyway. also – always contact the police if you suspect something.

It’s normal that they inspect, either BEFORE insuring a house, or shortly thereafter – usually within a month.

So, yes. If they find stuff like unrepaired damage, they can still cancel your policy.

Yes, that’s what happened when my husband and I purchased a house. A few days after we closed and moved in, a guy came from the insurance company to check out the circuit breaker box and a couple other things.

Absolutely. I am licensed P & C. they will come and take pics of the back and front and are "supposed" to come in a make a visual inspection of the interior, especially the electrical system, most importantly in older homes.

Insurance companies need to make sure your home isn’t too high a risk. oh how many times underwriters give us crap for homes we have written!!!! Sometimes they won’t issue the policy!
